Revisiting PowerPoint

School Learning Management Systems (LMS) have increased the accountabilities of staff and departments. Many schools now expect staff to have some kind of digital record of their class activity. Power Point, which has often been used to anaesthetise many audiences in the past, can become a good friend.

Issues covered in this workshop include:

  • Rethinking the essentials of a lesson
  • Templating the important features
  • Keeping students in touch with the big picture by including links to unit outline and assessment to follow
  • Badging your PPT to create a school image
  • Using simple visuals
  • Using Socratic questioning and anticipated delivery
  • Supporting and using the text to reduce student confusion
  • Behavioural management advantages
